Famous Mum of the Week: Beyonce

Memorial Day in the USA means different things to different people. This year, for some people, it will mean the chance to see one of pop royalty perform for the first time since the birth of her daughter. Yes, Beyonce will be making her first appearance since she gave birth to baby Blue Ivy.

We’re so excited that after spending some months with her baby and husband, Jay-Z, Beyonce is getting back to her career. She obviously loves motherhood but we must admit we’re pleased that her joy in being a mother hasn’t ended a career that started with chart-topping Destiny’s Child and developed into one of the most successful female solo acts in modern pop. From the feminist anthem of ‘If I Were A Boy’ to the pure pop of ‘Single Ladies’, Ms Knowles has always attracted our admiration and respect.

Hence when Beyonce gave birth to Blue, we knew it was only a matter of time before she appeared as our Celeb Mum of the Week, and this week seems a timely moment to recognise her great achievements as a mum, woman and artiste.

As well as getting ready for her comeback performance, she’s been using her clothing, jewellery and accessories to show her love for Blue. In the past few weeks, she has been spotted wearing a necklace with Blue’s name. Plus she’s been sporting more blue in her wardrobe lately from dresses to shoes.

In fact, we at Yippydada think she would love our Sea Breeze baby changing bag for that very reason. The cool grey and blue tones are a perfect, fashion reference to her child. And, as every mum knows, you can’t move without a well-stocked diaper bag when your baby is so young. Of course, Blue’s designer baby changing bag may be better stocked than most but the adoration Beyonce has for her daughter is one that every mum can relate to (even if they don’t colour co-ordinate their clothes to their child’s name!).

Working mothers everywhere will appreciate how momentous it is when you return to work, so what tips would you give Beyonce? Our advice would be to keep little Blue close, and make sure she has ear protectors to protect those delicate eardrums when Mummy reaches for the high notes.
